About Spider Vein Treatment & Diagnosis

Spider veins are small, visible veins that appear on the legs and other areas, often due to genetics, aging, or prolonged standing. While they are usually a cosmetic concern, they can also indicate underlying vein disease. Our expert doctor uses the latest laser technology and vein removal techniques, such as sclerotherapy, where a doctor injects a solution using a tiny needle to close off the unwanted veins. Most patients see noticeable improvement with minimal swelling, bruising, or discomfort.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are spider veins?

Spider veins are small, thin veins that appear red, blue, or purple on the skin’s surface, often on the legs and face. They are usually a cosmetic concern but can sometimes indicate underlying vein disease.

  • How is spider vein treatment performed?

Our doctor uses minimally invasive procedures such as laser therapy or sclerotherapy, where the doctor injects a solution with a tiny needle to close off unwanted veins.

  • How do I know if I’m a good candidate for treatment?

A good candidate is someone in overall good health with visible spider veins seeking minimally invasive procedures for vein removal. A consultation will determine the best approach.

  • Is spider vein removal painful?

The procedure is generally well tolerated, with most patients only experiencing mild discomfort. A numbing agent may be used to minimize any pain.

  • How long does it take to see results?

Most patients notice visible improvement within a few weeks as the veins fade. Full results typically develop over several months.

  • What is the recovery time for spider vein treatment?

Recovery is quick, with little to no swelling or discomfort. You can return to normal activities immediately, though your doctor may recommend compression stockings.

  • Are multiple treatments necessary?

Some patients may require multiple treatments for optimal results, especially for more extensive spider veins or stubborn vein disease.

  • How does laser therapy compare to sclerotherapy?

Both treatments are effective. Laser therapy is ideal for smaller veins while sclerotherapy works well for larger veins.

  • Can spider veins return after treatment?

Treated veins do not return, but new spider veins may form over time due to genetics, blood flow changes, or varicose veins.

  • Will my insurance cover spider vein treatment?

Insurance typically covers vein treatments if medically necessary due to vein disease, but procedures done for cosmetic reasons may not recovered.
