Dr. Richard D. Kimmel
DO, FCCP, FACOS, RPhS
Dr. Richard Kimmel is the owner and founder of The Kimmel Institute, a premier vein treatment, laser and aesthetic practice located in Boca Raton.
A graduate of The Lawrenceville School, Emory University and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr Kimmel has maintained his Thoracic and Vascular Surgical practice in Boca Raton since 1991. His credentials and experience have made The Kimmel Institute a designated training center for other physicians and staff in the use of the Dornier Laser System for vein treatment.
Dr. Kimmel served as the President of The American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS) in 2013 – 2014. The ACOS is committed to assuring excellence in osteopathic surgical care through education, advocacy, leadership development, and the fostering of professional and personal relationships. In addition, he remains actively involved, both locally and nationally, in promoting better healthcare policies and practices through the ACOS, FOMA and the AOA.
Dr Kimmel has help previous positions with the ACOS including serving on the Board of Governors from 2006 through 2015. He was President-elect from 2012-13, President of the organization from 2013-2014, and Immediate Past President from 2014-15, when his term-limit expired. He is a Fellow of both the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and the American College of Chest Physicians, and has held positions as a Clinical Investigator with the NIH, an Affiliate Member of the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center of the University of South Florida and as an Assistant Clinical Instructor for Surgery at the Nova-Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Davie, FL. In addition, he has served on and held leadership positions at several local hospitals in committees such as Cancer Committee, Surgical Review Committee and Utilization Review Committee.

Dr. Kimmel has more than 25 years of experience performing both thoracic and vascular surgeries and working with patients with a variety of vein disorders. He and his staff strive to provide effective, personal, and friendly vein care to all of their patients. As an established Boca vein doctor, Dr. Richard Kimmel is familiar with the South Florida area and through nearly three decades of practice has been able to establish lasting relationships with his patients and with the community.
Yesenia Rodriguez is the Office Manager for The Kimmel Institute and brings over 15 years of administrative experience in medical office and accounting roles. She assists in the development and implementation of office policies, as well as managing and overseeing the staff, programs and practices within the office. She is available to assist patients with their insurance concerns and payment options.
Yesenia has been a resident of Palm Beach County since she moved from Newark, NJ in 1984. In her spare time, she enjoys being with her children, walking in the park with her fur-baby Meeko, traveling and exploring new countries.
Ultrasonographer – RVT
Born and raised in Michigan, Melissa brings a cheerful Midwestern approach to the Kimmel Institute. Patients love her personality and find her very easy to talk to. But she also is a very experienced ultrasonographer and truly enjoys interacting with patients. These skills carry over into the procedures that she assists with the KI practitioners. She enjoys fitness, food and time with her husband, two young children and her goldendoodle.
Having recently moved to South Florida, Maria Ward is a Licensed Medical Aesthetician with over 25 years of experience. Along with her compassionate manner, she brings this experience to her patients by consulting with them and educating them about optimum skin health. She personalizes each patient’s needs with a customized treatment plan to achieve their desired goals. Her expertise and talents include the use of multiple laser modalities, many different non-invasive procedures and the application of permanent makeup.
Born and raised in South Florida, Gloria is licensed as an RVT/RDMS and brings several years of hospital experience with her to the Kimmel Institute. She also has her bachelor’s degree in Health Administration. With a passion for talking with and helping patients understand their ultrasound testing, she prides herself on providing kind and skilled care. In her spare time, she enjoys watching movies and shows, and she loves getting lost in a story.
Front Desk Receptionist
As our front desk receptionist, Gwen provides our “first impression” with patients, both in person and on the phone. She is fluent in Spanish and always provides exceptional customer service. Originally from El Salvador, she has lived in South Florida most of her life. She is a proud mother of two boys. Gwen loves to watch Family Feud with her husband and take long walks with her giant Labrador dog.
