Skin Issues Addressed

Different Types of Skin Issues

Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Fine lines are also called “expression lines”, which are lines that may be caused by the movement of facial muscles when smiling or frowning.

A wrinkle is deeper than a fine line and can be caused by the natural process of aging, as well as exposure to environmental factors or repetitive facial movements such as smiling, frowning or squinting.

The appearance of fine lines and wrinkles may be improved by lasers, chemical peels, microneedling, surgery and professional skin care products.

Fine Lines Wrinkles

Melasma

Appears as brown or gray-brown patches, most often on the cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin. This condition is known to be the result of hormonal changes during pregnancy, use of birth control, and menopause or from sun exposure.

Women are much more likely than men to develop this condition. Melasma can be treated with professional skin care products, chemical peels and certain lasers.

Dark Spots

Dark spots (also known as hyperpigmentation) are the result of the overproduction of melanin (skin pigment). These spots usually appear due to aging, UV light exposure and even exposure to artificial UV light such as tanning beds. These spots can develop anywhere, but they are most likely to appear on the parts of the body that receive the most sun exposure.

Although most pigmented areas on the skin are not dangerous you must always see a dermatologist to rule out any form of skin cancer. Dark spots may be treated with professional skin care products, lasers and chemical peels.

Acne / Acne Scars

Acne is caused by dead skin cells and secretions from the skin’s oil gland, which can clog your pores if not treated. If these pores become impacted they can appear as blackheads and/or whiteheads. Acne may be treated with a combination of skin care, acne medications, exfoliating facials and chemical or laser procedures.

Acne scars are usually the result of inflamed blemishes caused by skin pores engorged with excess oil and dead skin cells. Laser skin resurfacing and microneedling can help in fading these scars while also stimulating the formation of collagen, which can add volume and youthfulness to the skin.

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are indented streaks that often appear on the abdomen, breasts, hips, buttocks and thighs. Over time they can become less noticeable but they never go away completely. Stretch marks are particularly common during and/or after pregnancy.

Laser and microneedling treatments can significantly improve the appearance of the stretch marks.

Skin Texture

Skin texture refers to your skin’s surface condition. Ideal skin texture is soft and smooth, well hydrated with firm collagen and elastin support. Uneven skin texture is coarse, rough, dull, dry and often sun damaged.

Skin texture can be improved with chemical peels, microneedling, microdermabrasion, lasers and professional skin care products.

Rosacea

A common skin condition that causes redness and visible blood vessels in your face. It may also produce small, red, pus-filled bumps. While there’s no cure for rosacea, treatments can control and reduce the signs and symptoms. Treatments include laser, chemical peels, medication and professional skin care products.

Enlarged Pores

Enlarged facial pores are superficial skin structures that are visualized as small openings on the skin. This may be caused by a buildup of oil, debris and dead skin cells.

Professional skin care products, lasers, facials, chemical peels and microdermabrasion are used clear and prevent enlarged pores.

Enlarged Pores

Sun Damage

The sun gives off ultraviolet (UV) light that can damage your skin and cause a sunburn. Over time, these rays can lead to wrinkles, dark spots, and skin cancer. Research shows that UV exposure is the reason behind 80% of your skin’s aging.

Unsightly cosmetic Sun Damage can be treated with lasers, facials, chemical peels and professional skin care products. Before treatments, unusual dark spots on the skin should be evaluated by a dermatologist.

Sun Damage

Broken Capillaries

Broken blood vessels (aka broken capillaries) can be due to a number of different causes, the most common being damage to the skin from irritation, inflammation, and repeated exposure to the sun. While some causes are preventable, others are beyond control.

Broken capillaries may be treated with lasers and/or injections such as sclerotherapy.
